We arrived Tuesday night and booked into our hotel next to the crocodile park. The accommodation was great – little thatched huts with clean bathrooms. Finally we did not have to share.
Dinner was on Mr Churr at the Palace – the most amazing building with spectacularly high ceilings. I felt like I was in an Indiana Jones movie. The attention to detail in this place is something else. Everything has been styled to make you believe you have stumbled through the jungle and discovered a magnificent African palace: zebra skin chairs, Elephant fountains, carvings everywhere, soaring pillars, monkeys holding lamps etc.
Wednesday was spent at Sun City while Nick and Heinrich played golf. Jon and I visited the cultural village – a collection of different tribal huts and women in make shift costumes – clack lace bras with beads sewn on. The dancing was interesting but the body odor got a bit much from all the jumping around. I was willing them to stop so i could breath! Next we saw the famous shaking bridge and explored the gardens walking behind waterfalls and over suspension bridges – very Indiana Jones. Actually I think this place is a bit like what I imagine Disney Land to be. Good fun, you could spend a few days here easily. Unfortunately we had to go back to J'burg. However, I did get to eat a massive bowl of vegies!
